Limited Recognition

Sometimes we assume that the map we are taught is the real map of the world, but it’s quite surprising to see just how many of the boundaries, and even the actual existence or legitimacy of an entire nation, are disputed. Click image to enlarge or view here.

The country marked “State of Palestine” is actually the internationally recognized “Republic of Lebanon”.

The “State of Palestine” is currently occupied by the “State of Israel” since 1948 and it’s authority has been limited to the “West Bank” and “Gaza Strip”.

It took me all of 10 seconds to realize that Palestine is located in the wrong place. The map depicts Palestine where Lebanon is. Please do some simple research before posting inaccurate maps.

This made me interested in why Liechtenstein would have a beef with Slovakia enough to educate myself a bit (so, great job there!), and It looks like this information may need to be updated due to recent events. Diplomatic relations with a goal of “Partnership and co-operation in foreign policy” were established between the two countries as of 12/21/2009:
